Cancer update - 4 treatments down...

I thought I'd do a little update here... I've done 4 treatments now. I hate it. I really hate doing chemo. I'm trying to be a good sport, and I know that in a few days life will get a little better but man it's just so hard to feel so crummy!!! But here's the latest on what's going on with me...

- I had another pulmonary test done. My lungs are just fine, there was no change from the test I had done before I started chemo so that's good news.
- I had another PET scan on Friday, I'll get the results on Thursday from my doc. I'm really really hoping for good news, but at the same time trying not to get my hopes up too much.
- The port is working great. No more dead arms!!! The only bad thing with the port is that I can taste the meds as they are going through me... it's horrible. I can still taste them now. The worst taste in the world. It made me really sick while I was getting chemo on Thursday and the only thing that saved me from tossing my cookies (ya right... there were no cookies...) was a queasy pop. Seriously!!! I'm going to buy these in bulk because that may be what actually gets me through this.
- My feet have started to go numb and tingly. This is due to nerve damage from the chemo. Not cool. It doesn't hurt, but it might get worse before it gets better and my nurse said that they wont do anything about it unless it gets to the point where I'm having trouble walking (What!!) She said that all they can do is back off on the chemo drugs but since I have a form of cancer that is curable they are willing to beat me up a little bit to get that cure. So I'm hoping and praying that nice spring days running outside are in my future...
- I DIDN'T GET THRUSH THIS TIME!!! Wahoo!!!!! I started my thrush meds a few days before I usually get symptoms and it worked! I'm pretty excited about that.
- Our health insurance is changing at the beginning of the year... which means I have to go to a different cancer center with a different doctor. Big pain... so the next few weeks I'm going to be working on getting everything situated with that.

That's about it for now. I'm trying to get the energy up to set up my Christmas decorations. Hopefully they will be up by the end of the week!

If I were close, I'd come set up your decorations for you! I finally finished mine this last weekend.

Good luck with the new doc. Who knows, he/she may be REALLY awesome and make things even better! Good Luck Hun :)

What a pain that your insurance is changing, I hope the switch goes easily and that you love the new center. You guys are in our prayers.

I have never heard of the queasy pop. I might have to get some of those when I get pregnant, if you say they work! I am so happy you didnt get thrush this time. That must be such a load off. I am sorry that you have to change doctors. I hope it works out!

Meg,
You are such a positive person, and inspiration. Not to mention, super mom/woman.
We're keeping you in our prayers.
