Well, everything went fine today. The port is in. It's about 3-4 inches below my collar bone on my right side so it should be hidden by my shirt for the most part. I'm pretty sore but hopefully this will cause a lot less pain than the alternative in the long run.
It was a really interesting surgery in that I was totally awake for it. The didn't want to put me under because they needed me to hold my breath at a certain point and so they just gave me some meds to make me relax and numbed up the area before starting. It was really interesting. I could feel everything but it didn't hurt. I thought it was pretty cool. I don't mind being alert for surgery, I find that stuff interesting. There was one point in my life that I wanted to be a surgeon but in reality I'm so right brained it wouldn't have worked out. All those hard classes would have killed me. Anyway... it all went well!
Thank you so much Mindy, Crystal, and Emily who made today totally possible!!!! I really appreciate you guys!

Glad you were able to get the port that you wanted and it went well for you.
Interesting?! You're crazy! When I had the ablation done on my heart the sedation wasn't working well enough and I could feel the catheter moving inside me... creeped me out!
I am SO GLAD it went well! That's crazy that you were awake! You're better than me...I don't know how well I would have done.
I just realized...it took three of us today to replace one Meg. Wow, you are amazing!
I am glad it went well. What a relief!
