He decided that he wanted to take us on a little drive... down Highway 12. Highway 12 is in Southern Utah and it passes through a few different National Parks and State parks like Bryce Canyon, Escalante, Capitol Reef, and Red Canyon. They say that if you do this drive between mid-September and mid-October that the leaves are all changing and it's just gorgeous.
It was breathtakingly gorgeous!!! I didn't get very many pictures at all because I just have a little camera and we were going pretty fast down the highway so most of my pictures are blurry. the trees were so pretty, all gold and red. We also slept in and got a late start getting there so we were racing the sun part of the time. But it was so worth it, so beautiful, made me very happy!
We stopped at a little fruit stand and got some peaches, pears, and plums to enjoy on the ride. I got to knit and enjoy the scenery... just what I wanted to do!
Trent's sister Anjie and her hubby Lyndon joined us and followed in another car. And totally random... Trent's other sister Jenny is an art major at SUU and she was in an art show in Escalante so we were able to stop and see her painting in the art show. We picked her up and took her on the drive with us.
We made it to Hell's Backbone just before the sun set and were the only ones up there. It was so beautiful! Such a pretty canyon!
Tru loved climbing on the rocks and thought that he was pretty tough stuff doing it. Too funny!
It was a great way to spend Saturday. With those that I love most, doing something that I love to do which is enjoy this beautiful world we live in.
Trent said something that I thought was so insightful while we were driving along. He said that my life is kind of like the seasons right now. That right now is fall... I'm going through lots of changes. Then we will have winter where I will loose my "leaves" and we will go through a hard, cold time. But then spring will come again... I will grow new leaves and life will be renewed. Where did this guy come from? I loved that he thought of that and the symbolism that he used with the trees (cause we all know how I feel about trees here...).
Thank you Trent for the beautiful birthday drive...

Okay, I am totally bawling after the last paragraph about what Trent said. You're right, where'd he come from? LOL. I'm glad you were able to have a great Saturday with your family and kudos to Trent on the great idea!
