Fish Lake...

Well, we did it! We had our first annual "L" family camp out at Fish Lake! We've been wanting to do this for a long long time and I'm so glad that we finally did. So that's where we spent the 4th of July weekend. No fireworks, no parades, no sparklers... just good conversation, fish, s'mores, mountain air... doesn't get much better than that!

Trent and I left on Wednesday night so that we could get up there nice and early to "claim" a perfect camping spot. We got the best spot around for sure! Here we are in our lonesome the first night...

And here is camp the last night...

23 people in attendance... Trent has 10 living siblings and all were able to make it (including spouse and children) except for Justin (and Sarah) and David who were all in DC that weekend. Trent's dad was also unable to make it because he crashed his bike the day we all left and broke his hip. We all felt horrible and it was a little strange for the whole entire family to be out having a fun weekend while he was in the hospital. But really, he would have wanted us to go have a fun time. There wasn't much that we could have done for him that weekend anyway.

It was perfect!!! We rented a fishing boat so that anyone who wanted to fish during the day could go out on the boat. We planned a big dutch oven dinner for Friday night which was heavenly.

What was on the menu? Philly Cheese Stake Sandwiches... oh they were so tasty!

A lot of the time we spent sitting in the shade or around the fire, just visiting with each other.
There were lots of little kids that we had to entertain and chase around. So good ole' Uncle Trent made a swing out in the trees that was a big hit.

Mona Lisa (my guitar) even made an appearance. It felt so good to play my guitar, I really don't do that near enough anymore. It was fun to trade off singing and playing with Rachel, such a beautiful and talented girl.

The weather was a bit iffy at times. We had nice sunshine, completely gray sky's, HAIL, every range of weather almost imaginable! But it turned out okay. The weather didn't stop us!

When we were all packing up and leaving the big talk was "next year lets do this... next year lets do that." I think that's a good sign that everyone had a really good time.
Trent did a great job getting this all together. Those of you who know Trent know that a perfect time in his book is being out in the woods, fishing, and being with his family. It was pretty perfect. And yes, plenty of these were caught and there is nothing better than fish cooked in the fire!

How fun! Fish lake is the first place I ever caught a fish. I was quite excited. Then I cried because I realized that it hurt the fish and it would die. hee hee
Your husband looks strangely like my first husband, except with blonde hair.
