A Tribute...

... to my hair...

May you rest in peace... in the trash can...

I feel the need to reflect on some of the finer moments that my hair and I have had through the years...
why don't we start right at the peak... high school!

I think this was the finest time in my hair's life...

Or not?!?!?

I had a lot of fun trying out different hair styles in high school. I was always doing something different with my hair... School dances were always fun. Here's Junior Prom... pretty curls.

Senior Ball I went a little wild and died some black streaks to match my dress... and my date...

Curly...

Straight...
Wavy (notice the hair... not the angry face here okay!)
Then there were the fun things I got to do with my hair for Dance Company and Drill Team...

Why yes... those are leather pants that I'm wearing... oh high school. So fun. And no, I can't wear those anymore... nor would I... but we are talking about my hair here right!!
Then came college and I loved doing different parts...
And then I got brave and died the underneath part dark BROWN!!
This move almost broke Trent and I up. He said that he didn't like my new hair do... and I said, "Who the heck are you to not like my hair?!? It's my hair and I'm going to do what I want with it." So Trent bought me two dozen red roses and wrote a nice note that said something like, "I like you no matter what your hair looks like." Smart boy... Can you tell Trent wasn't loving it in this picture...
Then I went up to camp... somewhere that one would think my hair would suffer the most... NOPE!! I had so much fun with my hair up at camp!
"Cornucopia hair" is what I liked to call it... I loved my multi colored braids...
I liked to let my campers play with it and they liked it too... fun girl stuff!

I pretended to be a model for a while there...

This is how my hair liked to be... straight, long, blonde, sleek... that's how it was! That's how I liked it... so once I got married this is how it looked a lot of the time...
Here is a little known hair fact about me... I liked to rat it...
Everyday!!! I would rat it a bit and brush it out so that it would have a little body... helped with the straightness of it.

This is getting long... so then there was the wedding. I curled it up and let it just hang there in it's greatness... I loved it!
Yes, this wedding was seven years ago and I haven't done anything hugely monumental with my hair in the last few years... except for one big thing...
I finally figured out how to do the "swept bang" look. And I love it!
So that's the look I've been sporting for the last little while, the swept bang. Hope that's still in style when my hair grows back.
This has been pretty dramatic for me because lets face it... my hair is a HUGE part of my identity. I love my hair. I love how blonde it was, I love how smooth, I love(d) my hair. So it's hard for me to have it gone but it was time. I'll post some pictures of my hairless head when I'm ready, but tonight I just wanted to remember the good days...
Goodbye beautiful hair!!! Please grow back in the same way will you? Or if you want a little change I wouldn't mind a little curl to you okay?

You are very talented at doing hair and your hair always looked great. I hope it grows in just the way you would like it to when this is all over :)

I LOVED your hair tribute!! That was so awesome. I especially loved your "angry" face! Trent looked less scared in your wedding photo then the two toned hair color photo--that is good. You have gorgeous hair and you most certainly are still gorgeous. Maybe we can think of this as your combat haircut--you know like in the military. You are truly a warrior at the moment--strong and brave and you are going to beat this!

Your hair really is amazing!!! I LOVED the curly looked---my personal favorite. Now, if I could just get my hair to cooperate...

You are wonderful. So many people are rooting for you, and we adore you.

What fun to see old school pics of you! I like Emily's thought about this now being your combat haircut and it's meaning. I'll cross my fingers for you that it comes back with a bit of a curl!

I remember Paris' brown and blonde hair! That was a fun time.

Don't worry. Your hair will come back. And you two will have fun again.

You're in my prayers.

Oh Meg, I loved all the pictures. I remember every one of those hair styles. LOL. My favorite was the ratted one. You taught me how to rat, if you didn't know, and I will forever be grateful. Just know that yes, your hair was a very beautiful thing, but it is the girl underneath the hair with the smile that lights up a room that made the hair beautiful. You are the same girl with or without hair and I love you tons!

wow. you have had quite a few hairstyles! you one day need a girl to do all those same things to! I wish I could figure out the side swept bang...my hair doesn't do that! just think of all the great things you will be able to with your hair as it grows back...there will be like a billion styles you can have!

You have such fun pictures... I'm sorry about your hair. But, I'm still pretty sure that you can rock the GI look just like all of the other looks you have pulled off like non-other than you!

Love, Heather

I loved seeing all the pictures! You and Carly look a lot alike in your cornucopia braid picture.

I love the swept bang look but have never been able to get it to work on me.

You know, I cry every time I read your blogs. You're beautiful, you're strong, and you give me strength for my own life everytime. To the naked eye, you have a rough life. To me, you are a beautiful person, inside and out, that is teaching the world how to be strong.
