Flu shot...

I just wanted to say a word about flu shots. Many of you are getting vacinated from the flu right now which is great. We are all getting this and will get the H1N1 when it becomes available.

Now with the flu shot you have two choices. You can get a shot in the arm or have the "flu mist" sprayed up your nose. Obviously spray up the nose is a little less painful than a shot... however... it's a live strand of the flu virus. The shot is a dead strand.

If you get the flu mist, please don't come around me ;). Since it's a live strand those who have suppressed immune systems, like babies or cancer patients, can actually catch the flu from you.

If you are planning on helping me in the next little while, just get the shot. It's not that bad. I got one yesterday it I barely felt it. Nothing compared to getting an I.V. every other week or your blood drawn every week ;).

Thanks, just wanted to send out the word. I would love to have people around me but I don't want to get the flu...

ugh I would never get a mist up my nose - I hate anything going up there. so FYI if I am around you I will have the shot - but I am now missing my flu shot at work because I am working from home that day. Bitter sweet oh well.

We got the shot in the arm. I saw the nasal one on TV and it looked as brutal as the shot!

Thanks for telling us - we are getting the boys their shots next week. It is good to know for your sake and my little Natalie.

That's good to know. If I don't get either immunization is it still safe to be around you?
