Oh boy... I knew this day would come. I've been putting it off for a while and pretending like it wasn't going to happen to us, but it has.
Tru doesn't want to have two naps a day... he says that he only needs one...
That's fine, he's growing up and he's becoming a big boy now. But I really liked having two breaks a day instead of one. He seems to want to drop the afternoon nap instead of the morning nap, which isn't the way I would like it to go (do I have a choice???) since we have morning church this year, and play group in the morning, and other things that I would like to do in the morning.
So here is our old schedule...
Wake up - 7:00 AM
First nap - 10:00- 11:30 AM
Second nap - 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Bedtime - 7-7:30 ish PM
Here is my proposed new schedule (got that Tru)...
Wake up - 7:00 AM
ONLY nap - 12:30 - 2:30 (or whenever he wakes up)
Bedtime - 7:30 PM
Today we tried the new nap schedule. It was hard to keep him entertained for so long in the morning until he went to sleep. We ended up going to Target to buy some crayons and paper so that he could color as another activity (he ate the crayons by the way...) I fed him lunch around 11:45 and had him in bed closer to noon. He slept for two hours and woke up super happy!!! He was happy all afternoon and had no problem going to bed at 7:30.
So looks like we are in another phase of life. Hopefully this works out!
***On a side note here... this boy is so in love with his monkey blanket and his Curious George monkey. He wont let me pick him up out of his crib unless he's got both held tightly in his arms. I think it's adorable.

He is such a cutie! I LOVE that last picture with him all snuggled up! Don't feel too bad about the one nap from two. Sierra just decided she's not taking any naps at all so I get no break. Ah, the joys of a two-year-old.
Ahh... So cute! I'm glad he still loves that blankie!!
Ohhh, that is a sad day. It can be so hard to keep them awake until naptime, many days Zachary fell asleep in his high chair but before you know it you wont remember this stage. Good luck!!
Welcome to the One Nap Club. It's too bad the kids wont be on the same schedule so we can play in the afternoon. Jane gets really grumpy around 11AM if she hasn't gone down and she will sleep for three hours if she has a morning nap so its a plus plus for us to have a morning nap. If Jane goes down in the afternoon she only sleeps for 45 mins to an hour.
Joshua's been doing the same thing lately but I'm not ready to give up the afternoon nap time yet! I need my own nap! Let me know how it works out.
On a side note- does Tru move around a lot when he sleeps? I want to start giving Joshua a blanket to sleep with but I'm terrified he'll get caught in it!
You're lucky he's lasted so long with 2 naps. Good luck with the new schedule. Did you get that Curious George at Kohls? Emmit has one too. We got each of the boys one of the animals they had at Kohls before Christmas. Henry sleeps with his little panguin.
sorry you lost a nap ... those are rough times. :)
when #2 comes along it becomes a cherised, much-sought-after moment to have them sleep at the same time. seriously it's an hour of heaven.
