I'm sure that we all have our tried and true cinnamon roll recipes. Ones that we SWEAR are better than any other!!! I am no exception, I remain true to my roll recipe that my sister in law taught me years ago. I do have a secret though...
I don't make cinnamon rolls (very often or willingly)...
I make sweet rolls.
What makes sweet rolls superior to cinnamon rolls? The filling...
Cinnamon Rolls: cinnamon + white sugar filling
Sweet Rolls: coconut + brown sugar filling
There in lies the secret my friends... it is divine!!! For those of you who don't like coconut you are missing out! 
I made a batch of these yesterday for a friends birthday (isn't that a great birthday present? I thought so.) I did make some with cinnamon because there were non-coconut lovers that would be munching down on these... but after trying both (kind of the cooks responsibility...) I am still 100% in favor of the sweet rolls.
So the challenge is, next time you want to make cinnamon rolls, try this twist, you may never make a cinnamon roll again!!!

oh my goodness, I remember one evening in hawaii when the Brewer's and the lindgards got together and made tons of rolls (ok you guys did most of it all) but we had all kinds of yummy rolls! COME VISIT!!!

That sounds SOOOO good!! Too bad I mess up everytime I make cinnamon rolls. They are always dry. Maybe you should post your recipe sometime. I love coconut, by the way. Oh great, now I miss Hawaii. Thanks a lot. :)
I can testify that they are great sweet rolls and I also prefer them over cinnamon rolls. My question is How did I miss these rolls at the party? Where was I?

Wait, so do you put just coconut and brown sugar. No cinnamon at all? This is craziness! I want to make them right now, so hopefully you will respond to this ASAP. :)
