It's Friday again! I've decided this week that I want to make Friday's on my blog "Fitness Friday". I could easily change this whole blog into all my random thoughts and ideas on fitness and nutrition, etc, etc, but I don't really WANT to do that, so I'll reserve Friday's for that.
Friday might seem like a bad day for such a thing, because usually by Friday all the good things you started Monday like exercising, eating right, are long gone out the window. So lets think of it this way, we now have the whole weekend to think about how we are going to make next week work better for us, so these are just a few ideas to mull over...... until Monday.
"Man all I want to do is eat everything in sight, covered in sugar...."
As much as I hate to admit it, this thought has occurred to me many times this week. I'm trying to get my eating under control after eating so many sweets over the holidays, and by body is rebelling big time. So here are a few things that I tried over the week to help me out with this one:
1- If you try to eat 5-6 small meals a day, then you don't hit the "I'm so hungry I'm going to eat ________ (fill in the blank). So keep things around that you can eat, that are healthy, and eat them before you get to that point. If you eat every 3 hours then it should keep your blood sugar levels up so that you don't crash. Some things that I like to have around are slim fast (I like the way it tastes, plus it's only 200 calories, a good mini meal), cottage cheese with pears or apples (and cinnamon), yogurt, string cheese, plenty of fruit and veggies.
2- This one is a gem. They say that if you have a craving it will go away in 20 minutes or so if you don't give into it. So I've heard things like just drink water, or go read a book. Ya right, I can eat and read a book at the same time so it doesn't help. But try eating ice cream while wearing this....

That's right, this week when 3:00 came around and all I wanted to do was eat, I put this in my mouth, and by the time I was done the craving was gone and my teeth were on their way to being nice and white.
3- Give yourself plenty of stuff to do in a day. I hate the end of the day when I feel like I didn't do anything but sit there, and I tend to eat out of boredom a lot of the time, so think about what stuff you want to get done, and do it.
"It's really hard to exercise with a baby"
That's right, it is really hard to exercise with a baby. I'm finding that exercise is completely different now that I have a baby. I can't just up and go to the gym to go running or lifting weights like I used to. So here are a few things that I've found that have helped me get some of this in...
1- Tru and I go running with his jogger stroller. This is hard too because I try to time it so that he wont start crying and need to eat before I'm done. I'm not the biggest fan of running outside, in the cold, but it's important to do, so I try to do this at least 3 times a week.
2- ANYTHING COUNTS!!! I keep trying to tell myself this. While Tru is screaming doing his tummy time, I try to do sit-ups next to him, or lift some dumbbells or something. That's 15 minutes that I have to torture myself while I torture my baby (totally joking).
3- Babies make great weights, especially when they are 16 lb babies like mine is right now. I'll try to get some pictures next Friday of exercises that you can do while holding your baby.
What have you found that helps you exercise with a baby??? Until next Friday.....
