Fingers...

I'm not really trying to scare anyone with this picture, but this is what happens to my fingers when they get cold. My fingernails turn blue and the tips go white, and I can't feel them at all. Totally numb. I hate it, it makes it really hard to use my fingers.

The weather turned this last week. We had a few nice weeks in the 80's and now it's in the 60's-50's. I don't know how my fingers are going to survive the winter. I really don't. I've never been a gloves type of girl, but I might be sporting a Michael Jackson look for the next few months so that my fingers don't fall off.

And it's making me seriously consider if I want to move back to Utah sometime where it gets really cold... I don't know. I think that it's some type of damage from the chemotherapy because I've never had this happen before. I guess it's a small price to pay for saving my life right?

My dad has this problem. Its called Raynauds Syndrome. Its painful! He has to keep his hands really warm all the time or it happens. Sometimes if you pinch your fingers really hard so the blood goes back into them it helps. I am so sorry you have to deal with that!

Meg, I have it too! It is totally from chemo...pretty sure the vincristine is the culprit. My onc didn't think it was such a big deal, but I hate it! I keep extra gloves in my car and all my coat pockets. Like your friend up above stated, it's Raynauds. Ironically, even though with my last pregnancy I was hot all the time, with this one I am still always cold. Pretty sure it's all related.

My Grandma and my dad both have this! My dad wears 2 pairs of THERMAL gloves if he even THINKS about going outside. It's totally painful for them, but they just push through it (especially since he lives in Alaska :) )
Hope you figure something out for it!

Interesting because this totally happens to me. Only I have had this happen way before chemo. My fingers will turn purple, or white, or a combo- and nothing can get them warm, so I put them in my arm pits, and that helps! The warm skin against the cold transfers the body heat to my fingers. When it happens, my fingers also itch REALLY BAD, i hate it.
