Brighton Reunion...

Oh my... it was wonderful! Every five years they do a reunion for everyone who has ever worked at this LDS girls camp. I was lucky enough to go up with my mom and sister who also worked up at Brighton.

When we first got there we checked in and then went around and found our names on the walls. We paint our camp names on the walls of the rooms that we stay in. Here are some of mine. I'd just like to say that I picked the name Paris because I have always wanted to go to Paris and I took 4 years of french in school... not because I like Paris Hilton. This was way before Paris Hilton even came around... she gives me a bad name ;).

I was able to catch up with some of the most awesome girls ever! There were quite a few that came to the reunion that I worked with, so it was a lot of fun to see them again! I love how we wanted to take this picture outside to be by the totem pole that we put up the summer we were working there... and I end up being the one with the totem pole shooting out of my head in the picture... classic.

One thing that I loved about seeing these girls again was that when we were all working together we were all single girls, just starting our adult lives, with a world of possibilities in front of us. It was really cool to see where everyone had ended up eight years later. Some of these amazing girls have been through some very difficult challenges with their kids or their lives. They are strong women and I'm proud to be associated with them. The cream of the crop I tell ya!

We had a program out on the lawn and we all stood in our circle and sang Shadow's Creep, which is a Brighton tradition. As we gathered to sing this guy playing the bagpipes comes out playing the song... it was great! So awesome! There were so many people there the circle we sang in stretched out over the whole lower area. It was a great moment.

Brighton was more beautiful than I remembered it. The cool air, the pine scent, the beautiful trees... it was gorgeous! I hadn't been up there since I was pregnant with Tru so it was really nice to just be there again! It really is one of my most favorite places in the world. I'm so glad that I was able to go...

I have looked forward to this reunion the whole year that I have been sick and going through chemo. Brighton was the glimmer of hope in the sky... that I would be well enough by then to be able to do this. I'm so glad that I was able to go.

I went to Brighton one year! I was so incredibly home sick that I fear I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I could have. I was such a baby. :)

It was absolutely beautiful there though! I can still remember the gorgeous trees, flowers and view.

Thanks so much for posting this! I really wanted to be at the reunion, but wasn't able to make it. It was fun to see that picture with so many people from our year at camp!

And I had no idea that Erinn also worked at Brighton! How fun to know that my little camper helped to carry on the Brighton tradition!
