There is nothing quite like the great outdoors. I LOVE NATURE!!! I love being in it, I love the smells of the plants, the rain... I love the sounds of the birds and the leaves russling... I feel alive and invigorated when I am outside surrounded by the beauty of nature.
I had the amazing opportunity to work at a youth camp for two summers where I lived outside (okay, in a cabin)... but we were outside everyday! Those were some of the best summers in my life. I miss Brighton more than you can possibly imagine... I miss the pine trees, the wild flowers, the lakes, the moose (yes, even the moose), the dew in the mornings.
Something that I love about nature is that it is pure... it is beautiful just in itself. Leaves don't need a coating of shimmer to be beautiful. I love the rawness of it. I feel closer to God when I am surrounded by the beautiful things that he has created.
I try to remind myself when I am enjoying the trees that we are a lot like nature. We are all different. There are no two people alike just like there are no two trees alike. Yet they continue to grow taller and stronger everyday. They are constantly reaching for the light, their source of strength and healing... They are selfless, they give shade and shelter, they sacrific the health of the rest of the tree to try to mend one broken or damaged part. Even after a large forest fire you see little trees sprouting up, rebuilding their colony...
We can learn a lot from nature...
I long for the days that I can spend breathing in mountain air again... Until then, I will enjoy the tumble weed, the catus, and the red rocks... I'm thankful for all of it.

I love the outdoors too. When my soul is troubled or weary, there is nothing that rejuvenates it like being in the mountains (esp. Brighton) or sitting in the sand at Bear Lake watching the mountains, sky and sun. I makes me whole again.
I miss Brighton a lot too! It really is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. When I'm in nature it seems that everything is in perspective and I get closer to who I'm supposed to be and what I should be doing. I'm really lucky to live right next to mountains (even though they aren't my favorite ones). I should stop taking them for granted!
