Scorpions...

Ya, I wish this was a big joke... but it's not...

I've found two scorpions in our house in the past month... TWO!!! Oh I hate them. They scare me to death! I blame it on the palm tree outside of our door. And of course both times the scorpions were found we had company over, so it freaked them out too. Here is one that I found crawling up the wall in my living room when Anjie was here...

It was just a little guy... but still. So we've been researching what to do about these scorpions and this is what I've found...

- They are not native to Nevada, they usually get shipped here on palm trees from Arizona.

- They can hold their breath for three weeks, so if you spray for them chances are the spray will wear off long before they take another breath.

- They glow in the dark so you can get a black light and go on a scorpion hunt to try to find them.

- They come in from cracks in your house, so the best way to keep them out is to have your house "sealed". Get rid of any cracks that a credit card can pass through ( we will be doing this ASAP!!!)

So we basically just need to seal off the house (I don't even know where to start with this...) and spray for bugs anyway to cut their food source, and go on a scorpion hunt. I'm going to order a black light, but I'm not looking forward to the hunt...

I bet you ALL want to come and stay with me now don't you!!!

THAT could be fun!!! Not that I like scorpions, but the hunt sounds kind of fun...I could see us as roomies doing it at college all huddled together and creeping around with a black light! lol

I'm so sorry for your scorpion infestation! All I can say is that at least you are finding them when they are on the walls...it could be worse!
If you need help on your "hunt", I'd be glad to join :)

Ewwwww!!!! The spiders here are enough for me but it is kinda cool that they glow in a black light, this would be the time of year to find a black light at the store I would think. I hope you have found the last of the creepy things by now.

what a wonderful family, halloween activity... mmm, maybe not so much. what a bummer. i take cockroaches over scorpions any day.

BUT do you remember the time you came and played game at our house and litter critter accompanied us? i don't want to name the critters ... do you remember? trent picked them up with his bare hands and threw them away. just the thought is giving me the willies. yuck.

I will NOT be volunteering to help with the hunt (your friends are nuts!) but it reminds me of living in Hawaii. I guess they followed yoU! I got stung by a scorpion (or at least that's what they believe happened) when I was in Hawaii and I got real sick! Hate those things! Still, don't think I would trade them for Hawaiian Cock Roaches...YUCK! (P.S. I will answer your question on my blog soon!)
