Answers for Six...

Man, I had so much fun with this! Thanks for playing along, it was great entertainment for a few days. I've decided to explain all of these since there were some questions...

1. We've been thinking about legally changing Tru's name to Trusen.

TRUE - I'm not sure what to really say about this other than it's true. We wanted to name Tru something like Truman or Trumaine but they just didn't fit. I googled Trumaine and every picture that came up was a black football player, and I just couldn't do that with my skinny little blonde boy... so we didn't. We could not agree on a longer name by the time that we left the hospital, so we just went with Tru. But we have regretted it, and Trusen just evolved around the time he was two months old and we've been calling him that ever since. I say we call him Trusen about 80% of the time. So lately we've been thinking about making it legal. I'm just trying to decide if it's really worth the hassle, I think that it is. (Did you know that Trusen is a town in Germany? I love town names!!!)

2. I want to go back to school to learn how to do hair.

TRUE - I really wish that I would have done this straight out of high school. I wasn't ready to pick a major at the tender age of 17 and this is what I really wanted to do. Oh well, now I will probably do it after my kids are all born and in school. I cut Trent's hair all the time anyway, and I just really love playing with hair.

3. I hate cats and am scared of kittens.

TRUE - Ya, I really don't like cats at all. You know the cartoon where a cat is falling down a tree and they scratch it the whole way down trying not to fall. Just imagine that happening to your body. I'm still bitter about it Hufflepuff (sister in laws cat)!!! You better watch it!!!

4. My date for prom told me he was gay at the dance.

TRUE - The conversation went something like this... Lets pretend his name was Dallas...

Dallas - So Brandy says that we make a really cute couple. I told her that you weren't my type though...
Meg - Oh really, why am I not your type? Is it because I'm a mormon ... (he was not. )
Dallas - No.... it's because you're a girl.
Meg - .................... Oh.... huh.
At least I didn't have to worry about him making a move on me or anything! It was a great date!

5. Trent and I are distantly related (like 6th cousins).

FALSE!!!! - Yes, it's true that Trent and I have a lot of family ties... but we are not related. For example, Trent's first cousin Jacob married my first cousin Julie. Here's another one, my brother in law Scott is related to Trent's grandma, or rather his mom and Trent's grandma are cousins. Confused enough yet? Here's a good one. My aunt (she married my mom's brother) Maria's little brother Mark is married to Trent's sister Arianne... trippy huh? That's how we were set up, my aunt saw Trent at her little brothers wedding, he was the brides brother. Do you have a headache yet? So we have a lot of ties, but we are not related. I've gone back through the genealogy and there are no lines crossed here.

6. Trent is a descendant of Pocahontas.

TRUE - Yes!!! This one is completely true!! Trent's grandma Martha is from North Carolina. She converted to the church as an adult and moved out to Utah, so she is the first generation of mormonhood on that side of the family. She is indeed a descendant of John Rolfe and Pocahontas through their son Thomas Rolfe. I used to know the whole story, but it's been a while since we found out. I guess there are somewhere around 100,000 descendants walking around today. Pretty interesting. Is that why Tru has darker skin than I do???? I guess that means that Tru is now a descendant of the Indian maiden as well. Can you see the resemblance??? (just kidding)

Thanks everyone for playing along... although I'm a little surprised at how many of you actually thought that Trent and I were related... I know that we look sort of alike and have blonde hair, but really???

The winners of this game are.... Hallie (Hallie you are a mystery to me... but welcome!!) and some anonymous commenter, who I believe is my mother (mom I should have told you that you couldn't play because you already knew the answer, but it's okay). Sorry that I don't have anything to give the winners, other than the joy and glee that you can feel knowing that you have won!

That is cool that I won. I found you through another blog. I think my friend, Caley, at Sublime Bedlam but I'm not positive anymore.
