I {heart} electricity...

... and to think I was complaining about crinkled foil!!!

It was a crazy weekend for us. On Saturday we were doing our normal thing, getting some laundry done, unpacking more boxes, when the power suddenly turned off. That's weird... we checked the breaker box in one of the bedrooms and nothing had flipped, so we figured that there was a power outage here or something (we're used to that, it happened a ton in Hawaii.) We we left to go run some errands and help some friends, not really thinking much about it. When we got home that night the power was still off. Great....

So we called the power company and of course nobody answers because it's the weekend. We figure that we probably wont get a hold of anyone until Monday morning when it opens. So we pull out the flashlight and grab some dry ice for the freezer and decide to just tough it out camping style... it was a long night.

Do you know how hot it is out here??? Well, it was a little cooler this weekend, only 105 instead of 110. I think that night was the longest of my life. Tru couldn't sleep at all, because he was so hot. We couldn't sleep. We couldn't turn on any fans, because we couldn't plug them in. Finally at 4:00 AM Trent found this dinky little fan and taped it to his lamp to get some air movement in here. It was miserable. I actually let Trent open the windows to let a little breeze in here which is a big no no for me (scared of break in's and all).

Our ghettolicious fan...

Sunday we were glad to go to church to sit for 3 hours in the air conditioned building. After church we got in the car and decided that home was not the place to go, so we drove up to the only mountain that's out here (yes, there is one) where it was a good 30 degrees cooler and walked around a little bit. We made it home later to find our house still hot, still muggy, still no power, not looking forward to another hot night. It was a little cooler inside than out (maybe 5 degrees) so we decided to go on a walk on the hot asphalt so that when we got back our condo would feel a little cooler to us.

So we are out on this walk... and I'm looking at stuff like rocks and plants, and all the neighborhood dogs. Well, Trent is eyeing these boxes on the outsides of the buildings.... We make it back to our building and he walks to the other side of the building to check out the boxes. They are main breaker boxes for each unit. So he starts looking around and sure enough the one to our unit is flipped off. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! I couldn't believe it! I don't think that we were running too much stuff to cause the main breaker to flip, just a few lights and the washer and dryer. So Trent flips it and all power is restored!!! We're still learning about this place, obviously! I could not believe it!

I'm so grateful that we have electricity! I can't imagine surviving out here without it. It's one of those things that you don't realize how wonderful it is till it's gone! Anyway, that was out eventful weekend...

OH My!! How crazy is that. I am so sorry that you had to live through a Vegas night with no AC. I would have gotten a hotel room...ok maybe not but I would have begged for a one. I am glad things are working better.
