Wedding Dress...

My good friend Kjell reminded me of this on our little memory lane game, so I thought I would do a little post about it...

Once upon a time my friend Kjell was getting married. Such a fun time! One day she came to me and said, "Meg, I can't find any wedding dresses that I really like. Will you make my wedding dress for me?" Are you joking me!!! Part of me felt very honored that she would trust me with such a task as to make her wedding dress. The other part of me knew that I was no where near qualified to be making a wedding dress. I love sewing, its a fun hobby, but to make someones wedding dress??? Such a huge responsibility!!! With all that considered.... I said yes. She wanted something simple yet elegant.... phew.. I thought that was doable.

This dress... oh man. I was a little stressed. A few days before the wedding I had Kjell come and try on the dress, and we couldn't zip up the zipper!!! I had to redo the back panels and put in a new zipper, that broke. So the third zipper was okay... I haven't had the nerve to ask if she was able to wear the dress to her reception in Utah or not because I'm too scared to find out if her dress broke when she took it off that day. With all the end adjustments, somehow it was a little shorter than I wanted, and I think she wanted. It showed off her pretty green shoes though!!

That was by far the most stressful and rewarding sewing project that I have done. Thanks Kjell for giving me that opportunity and for being a good friend to me!!! Here is Kjell and JC on their big day.

Meg! I couldn't have been more pleased with my dress! It seriously was exactly what I wanted. Simple, comfortable, and light, but still so pretty. It was sooo me. And i'm glad it was that short because I didn't want to have it dragged, and like you said, you could see my awesome green shoes. And yes, I DID get to wear it at my next reception! The zipper was just fine. :) I'm so glad I had you make it, even though it was a stressful project.
Thanks, MEG!!!!
love you.

That's the coolest dress! You are incredibly talented! I wish you could've sewn mine, I had to toss it and never got to wear it because it didn't fit and the lady bled all over it. Total nightmare!
