Remembering...

This is what it was like when I first started nursing him. He would be so ravenous that he would drink drink DRINK!! Then he would throw himself back when he was done, looking totally and completely drunk... like this...

Oh the bliss.... We had a moment today. Another scary moment, where the razor sharp teeth that have never been dulled on anything before came out...(well, except for the pickle...)

I had rehearsed this in my mind, so it went pretty smoothly on my part. I pulled him off, stared into the big blue eyes and said, "NOOOO!!!" Sat him on the ground and left the room. So sad, so so so sad. He cried... he cried the sad cry that he makes when all he can see are strangers and can't see his mom... I hate that cry. I came back ohhh..... 20 seconds later, gave him a big hug and a huge ole' kiss on the cheek. I love this kid, really. So much.

Then later today, we had another "session". He was very timid, eyeing me the whole time. He did not bite. When we were done I made a big deal about it. Smothered him in hugs and kisses and while I was squeezing the life out of him, he turned and planted a huge kiss (open mouthed, of course) on my cheek. It was probably one of the best moments in my whole parenting experience. The words of my bff "all is forgiven, on both sides."

** Thanks for all of the excellent advice. Tru really appreciates it!! So do I!!

I have to say that you're a GREAT mom. I would have flicked the TAR out of him if I had gotten bit! That's why when I grow up I want to be just like you :)
Congrats on the no-biting anymore...

Oh my gosh, what a great idea!!! J didn't get teeth for forever. Finally, when he got teeth, he quit on me only a few weeks later at 10 months. He DID however bite me 2 times, and I thought I was going to die. I never knew what to do, either, so what a great idea!! I never wanted to flick him either...

Oh that must have been so hard but I bet that taught him to keep those teeth off of you.

I can't believe I'm about to cry reading a blog about breastfeeding, but I'm so happy for you, and it just reminds me of those simple "mommy moments" when you feel like you actually know what you're doing for a minute. THat is so sweet. I'm so glad you had this experience...I hope he keeps it up!
