Thanksgiving...

Here is how our lovely Thanksgiving dinner went down this year...

Me: Ate a lovely plate of Thanksgivingish food at work.

The boys: Went to a buffet with our Savta Malka and our friends Dale, Mindy and fam. and enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving buffet.

And yes, my boy is eating a piece of pizza for Thanksgiving dinner. And he looks pretty happy about it.
Trent loved the buffet. He says that if we are still here next year he wants to do it again. He said that the food was so good and no clean up involved. Not a bad idea!

Tru and his little girl friend Jane are so cute together...

Though it was not a typical Thanksgiving for us, it was alright. It was a pretty quiet day at the hospital and it gave me a lot of time to think about the things in my life that I am thankful for...

... I'm grateful for my health. I'm grateful that I feel so much better and can enjoy my family.
... I'm grateful that I went through a really bad spell, because it makes me appreciate the good times in my life so much more.
... I'm grateful for my good friends and family members that are so so so good to us.
... I'm grateful for my smart husband who is doing so well in school, and that he is a much better housewife than I have ever been ;).
... I'm grateful for a little boy who still loves to cuddle with his mom.
... I'm grateful that I have a good job and am well enough to work right now to help my family out.

Hmmm... I'm debating whether or not to say "How depressing". I'm so sorry, you had to work, that is awful. Thankgoodness you have more thanksgivings to come. You are so good, working when you don't want to. You are a tough woman. YOu look great in the pic!

Hey Meg, in answer to your question, this is what I eat in a typical day. I try to stay around 1200 calories.

Breakfast: oatmeal (not instant) with blueberries or 1/2 banana in it and then one fried egg

Snack: cottage cheese and fruit

Lunch: Slim fast shake made with soy milk OR salad with tuna or other protein in it OR Progresso Soup

Snack: whole grain toast with peanut butter

Dinner: Whatever I make for my family, I just try to eat a smaller portion than I normally would. I used to eat until I was stuffed and now I just dish up much less.

Snack: Healthy Choice Fudge Bar or other low-calorie treat

I do my best not to eat after 7pm. That has been huge for me. I used to eat tons at night and mostly junk food, so that was the best change I made. Eating 1200 calories is hard, but you would be surprised how quickly your body gets used to it. The first couple days I was hungry all the time and then suddenly I felt like 1200 calories was plenty. Also, I really try to combine lean protein and complex carbs at every meal. I think that's a good way to go. Good luck to you. Losing weight is such a constant battle. I wish I could just eat whatever I wanted. That would be nice.
