Strawberry...

We spent the day with Trent's family up at Strawberry Reservoir on July 3rd. It was so much fun! We like going to Strawberry because even if you can't catch any fish, it's still a lot of fun to catch the craw dad's (which is exactly what happened). We had the whole loot of them come, including Trent's dad, all of his siblings that lived in town, and his grandparents. This family loves to spend time together which always ends up being a lot of fun! We even had the two newest members of the family there....

Trusen got his first fishing pole. He didn't quite know what to do with it but no eyes were poked out so I think it was a success.

We got so many craw dad's it was unreal! They were literally just walking out into the water and scooping them up. Here I am being brave and taking one to the bucket.

Trent ended up tying the chicken wings to some rope and just throwing it out into the water. The craw dad's would clamp their little claws onto the chicken and the kids would pull them in. I was a bit paranoid about raw chicken all over the place... but no body got sick and it was super effective, so I guess it was worth it.

Then we pulled all the tails off since that was the only part with enough meat to eat and we boiled it all up with other good stuff for a good ole' country boil!!!

If you've never had a country boil you are missing out... really! For this country boil we had potatoes, corn on the cob from the stand in Heber, Italian sausage, shrimp and craw dad's. Boil them all together in a pot with Old Bay seasoning (put the craw dad's and shrimp in at the end since they don't need to cook for very long). The you just drain the water, put it on a serving tray and dig in! Utensils are optional, it's good with cocktail sauce.
