I was over the red and orange pillows that I had before. I wanted something to pull the living room together. The only real requirement was that they MUST have zippers! With these two boys I live with, such things get washed on a weekly basis, so I needed to be able to get them off of the pillows. I couldn't find any that I really liked, so I decided to make some. One thing you should know, I HATE sewing zippers! I've always struggled with zippers so I was dreading this one (that might have something to do with only finishing them last night...) I found this wonderful tutorial over at House on Hill Road for putting a zipper in your pillow cover.
It wasn't that bad... I did a practice one first to make sure that I knew what I was doing before I cut into my AB fabric (same Daisy Chain line). So the white pillow was my practice. I sewed the zipper in upside down... oh well, I like how the ruffle turned out so it's staying.
I didn't really like the fabric when I first bought it... sound weird? I'm just such a solid girl, it was hard to pick out a funky pattern like that. But it matched all of the colors in the room and so I took a chance. It's growing on me, I like the modern feel there is now. It's very different than anything I've tried before... but change feels good!
I think that my zipper foot and I are starting to kiss and make up.

you did a GREAT job on your zippers! I have started to fore-go zippers on pillows and just make a flap that over-laps to make them easier...but I love those pillows. I just might have to copy them from you :)

Gorgeous pillows Max, really! Can I put in an order? (Is it bad that your amazing craftiness doesn't inspire me to do it myself? it inspires me to hire someone to do it for me (and pay them well:)) I love that pattern but I can't get over the white ruffles, I LOVE it, great work.
The pillows turned out great! I love the fabric and the ruffle. I have to admit--I avoid anything with a zipper. For some reason it seems way too complicated. One of these days I'm sure I'll want to make something that has a zipper. Then I'll force myself to learn. :)
