Fitness Friday - Good Websites

There are a few (or probably a lot) of really good websites out there to help you get motivated, find a race, track you calories, etc, etc. So here are a few of my favorites that I visit often...

Fit Day is a great site. You can look up any food and it will not only tell you the calories, but it breaks down your day to see how many carbohydrates you're eating, how much protein, etc. Another thing that I like on this site is that you can put down the activites that you do and based on your weight it will tell you how many calories you are burning. For example carrying a 15 lb infant for an hour a day burns 160 calories. Shoot! That's like going for a little run. It's a free website, and it will track your progress for you.

If you are looking for a little motivation and want to sign up for a run in your area you can check out Active. Just put in your zipcode and off you go, they give you all the information on the events in your area. If you're not into running but you like swimming, they have that too!! Thanks Kristie for reminding me of this one.

Another one that I love is the Body for Life website, because I like reading the before and afters to give me motivation. They also tell you what they do for exercise, what they eat all day, and it just seems more attainable to me when I can see what other people have done and it's not something crazy like just eating cabbage soup for a month.

Last one that I'm going to talk about is a blog that I found (my friend Hannah had this on her site) and it's the Weekly Workout Challenge. Are you having a hard time getting into working out?? I know that I am. Looks like everyweek they post a challenge to do and you can write in and tell them about it at the end of the week, if you completed it or not. Looks like a great way to get moving without having to commit to a marathon.

My last idea of the week is to give yourself realistic short term goals. Right now I'm focusing on making it into the 140's (I have 2 lbs to go). So I went out and bought myself this cute little purse...

It's a lot easier to focus on a couple of lbs than it is to think about a larger number that you might want to lose. So make the goal small, and once you reach it, reward yourself with something that isn't food, and then set another small goal.
What's your small goal for the week???
